Fatty Fish Reduces The Risk of Fatal Heart Attack Among the Elderly
Fatty fish, such as salmon, is definitely in but fried fish of any kind is out, when it comes to a heart healthy diet according to new findings. Researchers say that one or more servings of fatty fish per week reduce the risk of having a fatal heart attack among the elderly. The fatty fish, such as tuna, salmon, sardines, and mackerel are rich in good fats called Omega - 3 fatty acids. David Siskovick, M.D., professor of medicine and epidemiology at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, senior author of this study, said, "We found that those who consumed fatty fish one or more times a week had a 44% lower risk of fatal heart attack. But we couldn't demonstrate any association between fried fish and the lowered risk of having a fatal heart attack."
