Howdy,
Something like winter has finally descended upon us. I am thankful for the snow and we do need more but I think we are doing better that our neighbors to the north. I made the trip to Rapid City for Christmas. My mother was able to be there with my brother and family. We exchanged gifts, played cards, told stories and ate way too much. The trip was great and the roads were for the most part pretty good. Wyoming has plenty of snow especially around Sundance. New Years Eve I spent with friends playing Trivial Pursuit and once again, eating. I think the last year was a good one. I lost some friends but then I gained some. I hope this year will be even better. I am back excavating rock from under the house. I hope to have that job done by the end of February. I rented a 60lb. Jackhammer last weekend and they gave me a 90lb. one by mistake. I thought that thing was going to kill me. After a couple hours I could not lift it from the rock. I haven't found any gold but I do find lots of old broken wine, whiskey, medicine bottles and old shoes. Not much value there but neat to find.
Hi-Ho, Silver!
A man called Clyde, decides to try horseback riding, even though he has had no lessons or prior experience. He mounts the horse unassisted, and it immediately springs into motion. As it gallops along at a steady pace, Clyde begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, he grabs for the horse's mane, but can't get a firm grip. He tries to throw his arms around the horse's neck, but he slides down the side of the horse anyway. Finally giving up his frail grip, he tries to leap off the horse and throw himself to safety. Unfortunately, his foot has become entangled in the stirrup, he is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as his head is struck against the ground over and over. He is moments away from unconsciousness when, to his great fortune, Wendell, the Wal-Mart greeter, sees him and unplugs the horse.

From the President…
The hospital cafeteria staff, led by Manager Karen Myles, served us a sumptuous Christmas dinner that would be hard to beat at any other fine restaurant in town. We were treated to dinner music by the Helena High School chamber ensemble, and many of us went home with poinsettias, door prizes gathered by Ray Morrison. What a fun evening with friends! And now the New Year begins with a great slate of speakers. Our next meeting is Wednesday, January 24, at 7 p.m. We'll be in St. Peter's Hospital, Rooms 1-2-3, which are easy to find. Dr. Robert Reimer, ophthalmologist, will show us a video of a cataract operation…this will be better than PBS…and more pertinent than the goings-on on the TV show ER! Dr. Reimer, who is new in town, also will be prepared to answer questions about diabetic retinopathy, his specialty, or any other eye diseases you may worry about. Call a friend who has been a heart surgery patient, recent or past, and invite him or her to join you for an informative and social evening. Our Cookie Chair, Art Kussman, will see to it that there is a good variety of goodies to go with the coffee. I hope you all had a great holiday season with friends and family. See you Wednesday. …Bev Gibson
Our good friend and MH member, Bob Rule went to Billings for some mitral valve repair made to his heart and while they were in there, they performed a bypass for good measure. This was Bobs second heart operation in 20 years. He feels fortunate to have been trouble free for such a long time. He is signed up for the rehab program and looks forward to another 20 years. Keep up the good work Bob and we look forward to seeing you at the meetings soon.
