SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS
After a hiatus of more than a few years, I decided earlier this year that I
would like to get back on a speaking tour regarding cardiology and related subjects. Part
of this I must admit was driven by the warm reception I had received when making a
presentation to the Mended Hearts Group in November 1997. Shortly after that talk I was
given to new letters to put behind my name C.C. "Cyber Cardiologist" for
the use of the multiple computer programs that I use to give these high-tech lectures.
Somewhat to my surprise, the demand for speakers in this area was great. On
March 19, 1998, I went to Portland, Oregon to address the Portland Echocardiography
Society speaking on "Digital Echocardiography," a procedure which is extremely
uncommon in the United States but frankly quite common at the Helena Cardiology Clinic. On
Friday March 27, 1998 I addressed a group at Big Sky Ski Resort on "Management of the
Post Myocardial Infarction Patient." This same talk was delivered to the physicians
at St. Peters Hospital on Friday May 1, 1998. On Friday May 15, 1998 a lecture was
delivered to the physicians at the Fort Harrison VA Hospital on "Management of the
Acute Myocardial Infarction." This same talk will be presented on Friday March 29,
1998 to the Intensive Care Unit Nurses and related staff at St. Peters Hospital.
The "big talks" will be delivered on August 24 and
August 26 at a National American College of Cardiology meeting in the Grand Teton National
Park. These talks will encompass "Office Echocardiography" and "Digital
Echocardiography." Virtually all of these talks are composed and presented on
computers with live animation. Preparing for such talks requires a great deal of research
and preparation. Such research has led to changes and alteration in the way things are
performed at the Clinic, which will hopefully benefit all of our patients.
