He spent an additional three
years of training at Emory in the diagnosis and treatment of the heart and blood vessels.
Dr. Paustian has very specialized training in the procedure of cardiac catheterization,
the management of patients with heart attacks and those patients that require open heart
surgery.
Dr. Paustian is Board Certified in Internal
Medicine, Cardiology and Adult
Echocardiography. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology,
a Fellow of the American College of Physicians,
a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions
and a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography.
He moved to Helena from Atlanta in the summer of 1983 (lured to Montana
by his avid interest in outdoor sports, including hunting, fishing, backpacking and
skiing) and in August began his solo cardiology practice.
Dr. Paustian has been selected as one of the
Best Doctors in America
every year since 1996.

He is on the medical staff at St. Peters
Hospital where he has served as the Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiology
Department as well as the Fort Harrison VA Medical
Center. Dr. Paustian has served on the Board of Governors representing the State of
Montana for the American College of Cardiology and has been the Medical Director for
Medicare Part B for the state of Montana. |
