  Dr. Paustian and sonographers Lisa Cummings and Kristi Burnett will be attending an advanced echocardiography course sponsored by the Mayo Clinic in Mid-February 2012 to keep up with the latest advances in the field.
• Medical Costs
  The cost of medical care is expensive no matter what the speciality. You can help reduce your costs by asking good questions and making sure the care you are receiving is truly necessary. If your provider cannot explain why a test or procedure has been ordered, it may not be necessary. Where you have the procedure performed is also important. As an independent, non-hospital owned clinic, we do not charge a facility fee which may contribute significantly to the overall cost of your care. Medicare also "allows" hospital-owned physicians and providers to charge 130% of the allowable fee of independent providers. These additional charges make the "convenience of all care down the hall" dubious.
• Echocardiography Certification Achieved
  The Helena Cardiology Clinic (HCC) is pleased to announce that it has earned certification through the ICAEL (Intersocietal Commision on the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories) for Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography, Adult Stress Echocardiography and Adult Transesophageal Echocardiography. Certification demonstrates that national stardards are met and all efforts are made to achieve quality echocardiography studies. The Clinic is the only certified echocardiography lab in the Helena area (including the two hospitals)! Special thanks to our two fine sonographers upon this achievement and recognition!
